This board is for discussion of Classical Writing - Aesop. CW Aesop teaches writing through rewriting of shorter stories, like fables.

Outline

I have questions about outline.

1. If the sentence is very long with several clauses connected together, will the student allow to write outline for each clause, especially for independen clauses that are connected with coordinate conjuction.

2. Once they have the outline, do they have to use the exact words in the outline, or they can just rephrase the sentence as long as they keep the meaning.

Thank you,

Yes, this is fine, and much easier for beginning students to do.

They may rephrase, keeping the same meaning. This is what we actually teach them to do later on anyway, so if they do it naturally, great!
