SAT writing and Demosthenes

Postby ajeclizm » Fri Mar 25, 2011 4:27 pm

If I understand the descriptions correctly, it looks like Demosthenes is the book that covers essay writing for SAT essay style prompts. Most of the SAT questions have to do with moral or political issues ("Should...?"/"Is it better to...?"). Would it be possible to do Demosthenes before Plutarch, so that the student can learn it before 11th grade?

Also, do any of the books cover steps on how to do research?

Thanks!

1. In Maxim and Chreia we do some basic research to support simple paragraphs
2. In our high school texts we do more of that, culminating with a research paper in Demosthenes which is 11th and 12th grade. Not all the high school books are published yet.
3. The ACT/SAT material will not be included in a book, but we plan to put up a free file on our website for those who want to study through that.

If you want the ACT/SAT file (in the rough) sooner than that, you (and anyone else) may email inquiry at classicalwriting.com and we will email you a pdf back.

I hope this helps.
